How it works
A pip is a selected price increment expressed in the pair’s quote currency. Multiplying that increment by position units gives the quote-currency value of one pip.
The formula
Keep currency, units and time periods consistent. Percentage inputs use percentage points (enter 5 for 5%). Results are rounded only for display; tiny nonzero values may use scientific notation. Undefined ratios are shown as unavailable.
Pair example: EUR/USD; Lot size: 1.00 standard lot; Contract size: 100,000 units; Pip size: 0.0001 USD; Pip value in quote currency: $10.00 per pip; Value of 25 pips: $250.00.
Calculation method
Lots are converted to units using your editable contract size. The example uses 100,000 units per lot, but brokers and instruments can use different definitions.
Interpretation
When account and quote currencies differ, multiply the quote-currency pip value by account-currency units per one quote-currency unit. Reversing that conversion rate gives a different and incorrect value.
Limitations
JPY-style pairs and CFDs can use different pip or tick increments. This calculator does not choose a pip size from a pair name or fetch exchange rates. Signed pip values describe the move, not trade-direction-adjusted profit.
